Assent Voting for Bylaw No. 809

The Village of Ashcroft held an assent voting process (also known as a referendum) on Bylaw No. 809, "Ashcroft Water Treatment Plant Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 809, 2016." This assent voting was held in conjunction with the Village of Ashcroft By-Election for the Office of Councillor.

On Monday, September 19, 2016 the Chief Election Officer declared that the electors had approved the request for the Village of Ashcroft to borrow funds for the proposed water treatment plant.  The official results can be viewed here.

Question

The Question that appeared on the ballots for the assent voting process:

"Are you in favour of the Village of Ashcroft adopting "Ashcroft Water Treatment Plant Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 809, 2016" which will authorize borrowing by the Village of Ashcroft of up to four million, one hundred and twenty eight thousand, seven hundred and thirty nine dollars ($4,128,739) for construction of the Ashcroft Water Treatment Plant?"

"Ashcroft Water Treatment Plant Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 809, 2016" will allow the Village of Ashcroft to borrow up to $4,128,739 of the $9,873,263 estimated project costs for upgrades to the Ashcroft Water Treatment Plant. The $4,128,739 will be repaid over a maximum term of 30 years. The area that is the subject of the Bylaw is the whole of the Village of Ashcroft. The Bylaw was read for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd times on June 29th, 2016 and has received Provincial approval on July 5th. At this time, the Bylaw requires the assent of the electors to be adopted."

General Voting Day was held on Saturday, September 17th from 8am to 8pm at the Ashcroft Community Hall.

Public Meetings
