Property Taxes – Deadline July 15, 2025

June 19, 2025

ONLINE UTILITY AND PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTS

If you pay your Utilities and Property Taxes through online banking, please note THEY ARE TWO SEPARATE PAYEES WITH DIFFERENT ACCOUNT NUMBERS. To ensure accuracy, refer to your Utilities Invoice (ie: 000 0XXXXXX 000) for the correct account number and your Property Tax Notice (ie: 50300XXX.XXX) for the correct account number. Incorrect account payments are becoming more and more common, so please double-check before submitting your payment.

*To set up automatic, recurring, or one-time payments to the Village of Ashcroft through online banking, please visit or contact your financial institution.

*If you require account information, such as your account number or current balance, please contact the Village Office at 250-453-9161.

PROPERTY TAXES + HOMEOWNER GRANT

Municipal Property Tax notices are mailed during the month of May, with a due date being the middle of July of each year. The Village strongly encourages homeowners to claim the BC Homeowner Grant and pay the municipal tax bill by the end of June. Taxes that are unpaid as of 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, are subject to a penalty of 10% for the current year.  If residents also fail to claim the Homeowner Grant by the due date, the 10% penalty will be applied to the entire amount without considering the grant amount.

HOMEOWNER GRANT

When to apply

You can submit your grant application online any time during the tax year. However, the best time to apply is after you receive your property tax notice and before your property tax due date. If you apply before your property tax notice is available, your home owner grant application will remain in a pending status until your tax notice is made available.

You can check the status of your application online using your application confirmation number.

If you apply for the grant after your property taxes are due, late payment penalties may apply to the unpaid portion of your property taxes. The home owner grant is a form of payment towards your property taxes and it’s considered a late payment if you apply after the property taxes due date.

You can apply for the home owner grant up to December 31 of the current tax year, even if you have not paid your property taxes.

If you qualified for the grant for the year prior to the current tax year, and you did not apply, you may be able to apply and claim the grant retroactively.

How to apply

The fastest and easiest way to apply for your home owner grant is online. You can also apply by phone at 1-888-355-2700 through an automated system.

If you do not have a computer or access to the internet, you can visit a Service BC location

*Anyone with your permission can apply on your behalf.

Note: Effective January 2021, the BC government changed the administration of the grant to operate under the Province of BC instead of under the municipalities.  As such, the Village of Ashcroft can no longer process Homeowner Grant applications. Applications must now be processed directly through the government of British Columbia.
