A General Local Election will be held in Fall 2026 to elect one (1) Mayor and four (4) Councillors for the Village of Ashcroft.

Overview

General Local Elections are held every four years and provide residents the opportunity to vote for members of Council who will guide the community’s priorities, decision-making, and future growth.

The Village of Ashcroft is electing one (1) Mayor and four (4) Councillor positions.

SD#74 School Trustee will also be elected under the Village of Ashcroft Election procedures – nomination packages will be made available as soon as possible.

Running for Office

If you are considering running for office or would like to learn more about the process, nomination packages and additional resources will be available at the Village Office and on this page closer to the nomination period.

Nomination packages for Mayor and Councillor will be available for pick up at the office beginning Aug 4, 2026 ,

A pre-election info session will be held on Wednesday, August 19 at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers for anyone interested in running for council.

For the Office of Mayor:

I have had the honour of serving Ashcroft for 12 years—four as Councillor and eight as Mayor—and eight years on the TNRD Board, including four as Chair. If re-elected, I will continue to provide steady, informed leadership in good times and times of crisis, making decisions through the lens of what is best for Ashcroft. I will focus on fiscal responsibility, critical infrastructure, responsible development and recreation opportunities for all, particularly youth and seniors. I will work with Council and Staff to keep Ashcroft vibrant, welcoming and a community we are proud to call home. – Barbara Roden

As mayor, I would promote slow, incremental sustainable growth.  In a province of unsurpassed natural beauty, Ashcroft possesses unique characteristics that can be used to market the village to people who will want to move and stay here. People can walk, hike and bicycle 12 months of year here.
Political activism experience, economics education and knowledge of economic development issues as well as an understanding of how corporate Canada works can bring tangible benefits to Ashcroft that will lead to an improvement in quality of life and make Ashcroft more attractive to outsiders. – Erik Poole

For Councillor:

I have called Ashcroft home for almost 20 years, serving our community through local organizations and, for the past four years, as a Councillor. I am proud of the work we have done together and am seeking re-election to continue moving Ashcroft forward through responsible economic development, tourism, transparency and improved services. I will continue to show up at the table with ideas to share, an open mind and a willingness to listen and collaborate to find solutions that best serve everyone who gets to call this beautiful little village home. I want to keep building on our progress. – Jessica Clement

My wife Glenda and I moved to Ashcroft in 2019, and over the past seven years I have taken the time to learn about the community we call home. I believe I can be a positive voice for Ashcroft, building on the work of current and previous Councils while keeping our community financially healthy. I want to help make Ashcroft as attractive as possible to new families while preserving what makes it special. I look forward to many conversations with residents in the coming weeks. – Warren Wall

By strategically promoting community growth, we can expand our revenue base and offset potential tax hikes. I am a lifelong Ashcroft resident, community volunteer and Councillor. I served with Ashcroft Fire Rescue for more than 20 years, including as Deputy Fire Chief. Since being elected to Council in 2018, I have worked on transportation, economic development, infrastructure, accessibility, emergency preparedness and regional relationships. With two terms on Council and a long history of volunteer service, I remain committed to practical, community-focused leadership and serving Ashcroft well. – Jonah Ansett

For eight years, I’ve served on Ashcroft Council, including as Deputy Mayor. Ashcroft has been my home for nearly 20 years. I’ve supported community-led branding, listened to residents and advocated on issues like weed control and pesticide use. As a business owner and community organizer, I bring a practical perspective to Council.
