The Village has received a number of questions regarding the recent discussion about potential 30 km/h speed zones.
For context, the conversation was first raised by the Street Safety Working Group after several concerns were received related to traffic speeds in the community, particularly regarding transport trucks and inconsistent speed zones in residential areas. Council supported conducting a community survey last year to better understand whether this was an issue residents felt should be discussed further.
At this time, Council is not considering any changes to speed limits in the Village. The current discussion is simply a response to the concerns that were raised and an opportunity to gather community input.
No decisions have been made. If any changes were ever to be considered in the future, there would be additional opportunities for stakeholder and community engagement.
