Village of Ashcroft, May 6, 2025 – The Village is pleased to announce that we’ve been awarded $2.7 million in provincial grant funding through the Universal Water Metering Pilot Project to fully cover the purchase and installation of water meters in our community.
This grant represents a unique opportunity—covering 100% of project costs with no direct expense to residents. It positions our Village for essential future investments, including upgrades to water and sewer infrastructure. By moving forward now, with full funding in place, we’re making a smart, cost-effective decision that benefits the entire community.
We know there will be lots of interest in how the project will roll out—and plenty of good questions. That’s why we’re committed to clear, timely, and transparent communication every step of the way. We’ll be launching a dedicated webpage soon, with project updates, FAQs, helpful information, and best ways for residents to connect with us directly.
You’ll also see community events such as town halls, drop-in events, and online forums in the coming months. These will be welcoming spaces where you can learn more, ask questions, and help shape a smooth transition.
A Strong Plan for Project Costs
The engineers have estimated project costs and included a contingency in the budget and expect the grant to fully cover the project; however, if costs were to exceed the $2.7 million allocation, the Village will use reserve funds to ensure everything stays on track. This approach ensures we take full advantage of the grant while protecting residents from unexpected costs.
