Waste Water

The Village of Ashcroft operates and maintains a comprehensive wastewater collection and treatment system that protects public health, safeguards the environment, and supports the community’s long-term growth.

Wastewater from homes, businesses, and public facilities is collected through the Village’s sanitary sewer network and conveyed by a series of lift stations to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. There, it undergoes an activated air treatment process before being safely returned to the environment in accordance with provincial environmental regulations.

As part of the treatment process, biosolids are generated and managed through an approved beneficial reuse program. Ashcroft partners with SYLVIS Environmental to recycle these biosolids through land application projects in British Columbia, where they help restore grasslands and improve agricultural soils.

The Village is committed to maintaining reliable wastewater infrastructure through ongoing preventative maintenance, regular equipment upgrades, and long-term capital planning. Investments in emergency backup power, lift stations, and future treatment plant improvements help ensure the system remains resilient, environmentally responsible, and capable of meeting the needs of our growing community for years to come.
