This year’s fundraiser will be for the Ashcroft and District Hospice Society. “Major focuses for the Hospice have included caregiver support, friendly visiting, AIDS support, and continuous empathetic support to palliative clients and their families. They are also proud to have been a force in the creation of a Palliative Care Room at the Jackson House Long Term Care Facility in Ashcroft. One of the challenges facing their volunteers is geographic, in that they serve the areas of Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Walhachin, Loon Lake, Clinton, Spences Bridge (and Savona and Lytton when necessary and able). They hope to establish a permanent brick and mortar office, with a staff coordinator, to train and lead their volunteers in their passionate desire to help our communities through times of personal pain and grief.”
