Paper Plate Fish

Get creative and make a paper plate fish!

Materials:

  • One circle paper plate- Whatever size, color, pattern, etc. you want to use
  • Construction paper of various colours
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick (would not recommend liquid glue)
  • Clear tape
  • Felt markers, crayons, or pencil crayons
  • Pen or pencil
  • Sharpie marker

Steps:

1. Collect all your materials

2. Cut a triangle out of our paper plate to make a mouth

3. With the piece you cut out, tape it on the opposite side of the paper plate to make a tail

4. Cut out strips of paper and draw half circles, like an uppercase “D”, they do not all have to be the same size. These are your fish scales. You will need about 50-70 “D” for your fish, but you can use how ever many you want

5. Cut out all your “D”

6. Start from the back of your fish gluing on the half circles. Make sure the rounded side is facing the tail. Layer the scales like a fish as you glue them moving towards the mouth of the fish. Be creative in your fish scale design

7. Draw two fins on another piece of construction paper; one a bit smaller than the other.

8. Cut out and glue your fins to your fish. The larger fin on the top and the smaller fin on the bottom

9. Add an eyeball using sharpie marker or cut one out from construction paper

10. Add any design on the scales and fins
