Desks through the years…
Desk from approx. late 1880s/early 1890s
These desks would be lined up in rows, one right after the other. This type of desk had a foldable chair in the front for students to sit, and they would use the desk ahead of them. There was an opening inside the desk to put books, paper, and pencils.

Desk from approx. 1940s
These desks had a connecting chair, and a section underneath for student’s books. These desks would have been used in older grade classrooms.

Desk from approx. 1950s
These desks had chairs that matched. Both were made out of wood, and the desk had a groove on the top to put your pencils and an inside opening for papers and books.
