NEW: Mail Ballot Voting
Register for a Mail-Ballot Package between September 28 and October 13, 2022. If requesting a Mail-Ballot Package after October 7, 2022, the package must be picked up at the Village office. This Election, Mail Ballot Voting is available for resident electors and non-resident property electors.
Legislation was updated in 2022 that allows all electors to vote by mail if authorized by bylaw. Council has adopted the Election and Other Voting Amendment Bylaw No. 853, 2022 that provides eligible electors to vote-by-mail for the 2022 General Local Election.
Registration for a Mail Ballot Voting Package will be between September 28 and October 13, 2022.
The Village uses Same-Day Voter Registration – the Mail Ballot Package will include your application to register. Proof of identity and residency will still be required, and electors that vote by mail can still be challenged pursuant to the Local Government Act. Mail Ballot Packages may be mailed to you or picked up at Municipal Office (601 Bancroft St.) during regular office hours by the applicant or an Authorized Person.
Mail Ballots will be accepted at Municipal Office (601 Bancroft St.) on October 14, 2022 until 4:00 pm; and at the close of polls at 8:00 p.m. at the Ashcroft Community Hall (409 Bancroft St.) on General Voting Day – October 15, 2022.
Mail-in Ballots will include Candidates for Village of Ashcroft Council.
To be eligible to run for Mayor or Council you must:
*Be 18 years of age or older on general voting day (October 15, 2022)
*Be a Canadian Citizen
*Have been a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months proper to filing of nomination documents
*Not to be disqualified from being nominated for, or being elected to or holding office

The nomination period for candidates is Tuesday, August 30, 2022 to Friday, September 9, 2022 at 4:00 pm. Nomination documents will be available in person at the Village Office, 601 Bancroft Street, Ashcroft or click the link below to download.
