Bonaparte River

The Bonaparte River comes from the Bonaparte Lake. This river flows through Cache Creek then joined by the Thompson River in Ashcroft. The Secwepemc name for this river is “Kluhtows”, meaning “gravelly river”.

Thompson River

The Thompson River has two main branches, the South Thompson and North Thompson. In Ashcroft, the Thompson River continues to flow south and by Lytton the Thompson River joins the Fraser River. The Thompson River is home to many types of fish, such as pacific salmon species and rainbow trout.

Fraser River

The Fraser River is the longest river in BC. This river is joined by the Thompson River and the Bridge and Seton Rivers in Lillooet. This river eventually flows into the Strait of Georgia and into the Pacific Ocean. This river is known for it white sturgeon, pacific salmon, and steelhead trout. The banks of this river are rich for farmland, used by pulp mills, and provides hydroelectric power.
